Viking River Cruises, a Conde Nast Traveler Gold List company, just launched an early-bird sale on all of its 2009 European itineraries. For departures next year, prices have been slashed by $1000 per cabin (or $500 per person). With a bit of planning and flexibility with your travel dates, you can find some truly phenomenal deals on its river cruises. Case in point: Viking's 7-night cruise between Paris and Normandy (Le Havre) can be had for as little as $1299 per person for a Category E (normally $1799). This deal is limited to a very small number of cabins on the March 22 (Paris to Normandy) and March 29 (reverse) sailings. Upgraded cabins start at just $1799. Highlights of the Paris-Normandy cruise include shore excursions to the cities of Paris and Rouen, the famous gardens of Giverny, the provincial town of Vernon and the historic beaches of Normandy. Keep in mind, Viking's pricing includes all meals on the cruise, plus many guided walking and motorcoach tours -- meaning your out-of-pocket expenses are minimized. Travelzoo Update (July 18 2:15PM PT): The $1299 cabins are now sold out. The upgrade cabins, as well as other European itineraries are still available as part of Viking's early-bird sale. Click here for details about this offer. Call to find out more information about all other cruises included in Viking River Cruises' early-bird sale. Book by July 31: Call 1-877-750-0126 and mention promo code EBD. Note: Viking River Cruises has included most of the taxes in this price, but an additional $70 fuel surcharge applies. Travelzoo Tip: If you purchase your airfare through Viking River Cruises, it will include transfers to and from the cruise (a $50 per person value).
